Zhane and I are jizzing over Mac Miller. Zhane would let him put his sperm inside her, as quoted. He’s got the downs, but we love him. He has a tattoo that says “No Woman, No Cry”. Such a boss.
I remember when I was little I would hear what I thought were just instrumentals in movies and think they were really cool. As I got a little bit older I realized that some of those instrumentals were scores written by a composer played by a legitimate orchestra, but lots of times those “instrumentals” were created by actual DJS. Instrumentalism for DJS isn’t just background music. It’s that feeling within one’s heart, put to music. There is no need for words most of the time. I feel the same way.
Which brings me the topic at hand: Star Slinger.
It’s hard to talk about Star Slinger. I sit and try to think of the proper words to describe Star Slinger and my mind draws a blank. I’ve had this driving obsession with DJS, house music, remixes, and electronic for about two years now and every time I back out a little bit, I find another thing to be obsessed with. Star Slinger got me. As I sit here trying to generalize the artist, trying to gather information about who he is, maybe to be able to better place him I can’t. I was really surprised that Pitchfork (hipster bible?), had a work up on him, under their ‘Rising”section. Him, being “the one man beat machine”, Darren Williams.

He looks more like a mountaineer than a beat mix genius huh? Straight out of Manchester, Darren’s an unsigned theater nerd with an enthusiasm for masses of different music styles. And isn’t that all it takes? Enthusiasm. A zest for music. A zest for sampling rather, if you are a beat remixer (Taken from the likes of hip hop greats such as Kanye West). Star Slinger has one of the most impeccable sampling styles I’ve heard in a long time. There is nothing I love more than electronic master mixes with a funk hip hop edge. That’s just what Star Slinger is. Or maybe he isn’t. He’s indescribable. And I like that. I can’t put him in a genre. Even his remixes with bellow beat artist Teams, are amazing and just so different. It’s insane.
Enough talk though. On to the fucking music. Here’s three very different equally amazing StarSlinger songs for ya:
1) Ever wonder what would happen if old school hip hop fucked new age electronic and had a baby? May I present to you: Mornin’
2) An odd favorite lo-fi band of mine Rollerskaters have this intense song Sleep Tight. Starslinger DESTROYED IT and made it into an electronic crazy bubble. Here it is.
3) Lastly but not least Teams vs Starlinger- Punch Drunk Love. I had no idea that chipmunk could sound good. I had no idea that I could fall in love with a song so quickly.
Here’s this for amazingness you can go to his official website http://www.starslinger.net/home.html and download a free 6 track EP Rogue CHO PA. Even did a badass Nicki Minaj remix, also available for free.
There are not many bad things about Star Slinger. In fact, I can’t find any.
